About
Matt Smith is the UF/IFAS Extension Commercial Crop Production and Food Systems Agent. Prior to this position, from 2017-2024 he served as the Sustainable Agriculture Extension Agent for Sumter, Pasco, and Hernando County following two years as the Small Farms Technician at the UF/IFAS West Florida Research and Education Center near his hometown of Pensacola. He works with citrus and other produce growers in Lake County and citrus and small fruit growers in Orange County. Matt earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics and his Master’s degree in Food and Resource Economics from the University of Florida.
